Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
I’ve a Dutch friend who supports Ajax. He put it like this. Alvarez is better than Rice at covering the back four but won’t give as much going forward. Seems he’s right. He’s not such a fan of Kudus though.

Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
He's not Declan Rice.

He just does what he needs to. Declan wanted/was always being told to do other things beyond being a defensive midfielder.

The first goal came because on the edge of the area he just gave it to the creative player.

DECLAN x2 isn’t he?

What a player

Good debute
Needs to improve fitness, passing forward and attacking runs.
Going to be a good Rice replacement

Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
Thought he was excellent. Commanding, organising the midfield in front of him, always sniffing out the danger. The Brighton goal was a bit down to him, but Zouma actually signalled for him the change about 5 mins before...he was dead on his feet with legs of lead at that point so no real blame.

Looks a fantastic signing...doing all the bits of Rice's game that were actually meaningful to us, and the flashy ball carrying bits that didn't actually achieve very much most of the time seem improved on by JWPs.ability to quarterback a meaningful forward pass.

Plus Alvarez has a tough disposition about him...but of a winners mentality. Good stuff EdSON.

Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
I like him and only going to get better, still a little unsure at times but that's just a matter of getting to know his new teammates.

Cant say he was fully at fault for the Brighton goal, but he did seem a tad out of position and back a bit further than he should have been, he then had a lunge at the ball, then Brighton player (name escapes me) just stepped to one side and smacked it into the corner.

Maybe a weird thing to say but i hope the injury to Soucek keeps him out for a game or 2 as with Aguerd back i reckon it will be Alverez he drops, we also looked better when Soucek went off but im not sure Moyes would agree!!!!

What are WHOer's thoughts after a game and a bit on this fella? Very early still of course, but so far so good for me, but how good could he be, or otherwise, strengths and possible weaknesses etc? A shoe in for the first eleven?

Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
So downs will be back on the bench as soucek won't be benched

JWP not confirmed yet so guessing it's too late for him.

Midday today, is the registration deadline, for 3.00pm kick offs tomorrow.

Ludo- this is my fear. If he’s not a Moyes pick which is what it seems like then he’s going to struggle to get proper game time like Scamacca etc. it’s going to be yet another shit show of an embarrassment.

He should be on the bench tomorrow for 10-15 at the end of the game. We really need him as quick as possible. The other alternative is another non Moyes pick so fuck knows what happens. Moyes probably wants mctominay and if he gets him Alvarez will be riding the bench all season

Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
Moyes has said in his press conference that he isn't available for Bournemouth which, as the player had said he was raring to go, translates as I'll pick him in my own good time...

See you in October Ed son.

Midfield of Alvarez, JWP and Paqueta will definitely be interesting.

Can he play tomorrow? Not waiting on 'International clearance' or the like?

JWP not confirmed yet so guessing it's too late for him.

just watched the behind the scenes video. comes across as a very humble character with a beautiful wife. Also noticed loads of mexican/latin football fans in the comments. I can't wait to see him play

Sold - I'm glad it's back too for similar reasons, it's def a distraction and you can't beat it. Hope all works out, it usually does.

Hope things get better for you, Sold0.

For what it's worth, I think these players are perfect for Moyes and the way he plays. We're likely to improve our league form with Slabhead and JWP.

Northern Sold 1:44 Fri Aug 11
Re: Edson Álvarez Signed
Trunds... regarding us I'm still on a high... knew Rice would be off so nothing to get upset there about... if we get these three in for him then for me that's bloody good business in my eyes... then again maybe I should have been sunk to the nuts on the transfer thread with every jack Sir Alf and co moaning constantly since we picked up the cup... I got a lot of fucking proper shit going on in my life at the mo... so for once the football is a nice deflection from reality... and you know what even the coming Moysie hoofball is looking attractive...
